Twelfth Man

In the spirit of E. King Gill, Aggies stand ready for service, desiring to support their team.

The massive 55-foot tall Bonfire has symbolized the Aggies' burning desire to beat "t.u." in the annual football game.

At midnight before each home football game, Aggies gather to pump up the Twelfth Man for the next day's big game.

Selected by the student body, these five Aggies are the "Keepers of the Spirit" of Aggieland.

The Twelfth Man makes a difference for their team fighting on the gridiron.

Seniors welcome their team back onto the field after half-time.

     "I just returned to Nebraska from the 14-hour jaunt to this weekend's game in College Station, and I wanted to thank the Aggie fans at Kyle Field for displaying the greatest sportsmanship I have witnessed at any Husker away game.
     During my undergraduate career at the University of Nebraska, I attended numerous away games as a member of the Cornhusker Marching Band, and I received more than my fair share of insults, jeers and heckling from the opposing fans.
     This note is not about criticism, but about giving credit where credit is due. My hat is off to the following:
     The Aggie players and coaches for a great game,
     The Aggie fans for their tremendous support of their team and great sportsmanship,
     The Aggie Corps of Cadets for showing me what tradition is all about,
     and finally, the 'Fighting Texas Aggie Band' that was the best college marching band I have ever seen.
     Congratulations, and best wishes to the Aggies with the remainder of the season. Gig' em Ags, and Go big red."
